Happy Holidays From Australia

I would say its that time of year again but by now, the holidays have come and gone. How does that happen so fast? Christmas is over, our second Christmas in Australia, the first at home in Sydney. I think we are both still in shock that the Holidays have already passed, it feels like just yesterday we were thinking about our first christmas in Australia. Sad to say, once again this year we didnt get bit by the Holiday spirit bug. Although we did upgrade from just a Santa rug to a Santa rug and a tree without ornaments. In case you didnt read the previous post, Ewok thought the tree was her Christmas present and loved to burrow within it thus making it VERY difficult to put ornaments on and feel they would be safe. :( Maybe next year. We had a pretty low key christmas this year. We spent Christmas Eve with our friends Jo and Phil, playing wii, drinking wine, and eating pizza. Yes, I said it, we ate pizza on Christmas Eve, and it wasnt even homemade. DELIVERY. Im sure many of you are horrified, especially my Mother who takes pleasure in her big Christmas Eve dinners. On Christmas we had a bit of a progressive meal day. Brunch with Jo and Phil, potluck lunch at another friends followed by a few games of wii. The others headed to another place for a dinner bbq but Aaron and I opted out and instead headed home in the rain. Another sad fact, its raining. So much for that wonderful summer christmas in Sydney. It was beautiful leading up and even Christmas morning it styed nice for our early morning venture to the beach but by afternoon the rain had come and hasnt stopped yet. Isnt that perfect timing? 4 days off and RAINING. On Boxing day Aaron wanted to go into the city for some new sunglasses...good idea right? NOPE, picture NYC on NYE. Seriously, there were crowds everywhere, lines to get into stores, lines to get onto escalators, lines to get into shopping centers. Absolute Chaos, Aaron did find sunglasses and managed to handle the crowd better than I did. After fighting around hoards of people to help him pick out sunglasses I had to go stand outside in a corner where no one could even come near me!!! After the sunglass purchase we decided we were done with the shops and headed down to Darling Harbour hoping we could score tickets to the Imax. Wishful thinking on our part, its sold out for like a week but we did have a nice walk, followed by a cup of coffee, and a TON of stares from tourists at my neon green gum boots (it was raining, any excuse to wear them) . After unsuccessfully trying to buy tickets at the imax we decided to head towards home and go see a movie at the regular theater. SUCCESS on two levels. Tickets to Sherlock Holmes and I finally bought my NYE dress, oh and the third level I forgot to mention, NO CROWDS to fight through. The movie was great, as was the popcorn. We decided it was time for dinner and headed to our favourite thai restaurant which luckily for us was still open. We scored a great table outside, had our favourite thai and headed home for one last movie before bed, ELF. I love that movie, i cant help but laugh at it. Today was another rainy day so we started the day with a yummy breakfast at home and then headed to the movies again. Todays feature, Avatar. It was awesome, the 3d was incredible. I told aaron as we left that I wanted to be an avatar. :) There isnt much to do with the rain so we headed home and Aaron braved a run while I read a bit. He's much more hardcore than I am. I was very happy to continue doing nothing! Not much else to report for tonight, more movies, and a cup of tea. The rain has stopped but is supposed to continue through the week, bummer but I do still have one day off left which will be spent doing...you guessed it...another movie. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday, we missed you all and wish we could have spent it with all of you!
