Dejavu and Conehead

Well as I'm sure you've all heard we got robbed again. We were up in Manly at a friends house and when we got back to the car the trunk light was on. We were both pretty confidant that we'd locked up the car so we thought it strange that the trunk would be ajar. In about 5 seconds we realized that we'd actually been robbed, AGAIN. Thankfully the thieves tossed Melissa's purse on someone's lawn and they turned it in. Melissa was able to get her Christmas present from me back along with some sentimental things she'd keep inside. I've been in Australia less than 1/7th the time I lived in Guatemala and as far as I can recall I've been robbed more here!

Last Sunday we took Liz and Andy back to the airport. It was so sad to see them go! We had a great time together and it was really fun just to hang out. On Thursday Joe was in town, so we had a group dinner with Megan as well. After dinner Andy and I went to play some pool. Yeah, I definitely shouldn't be playing pool. Friday everyone came by my office to visit and go check out the gear we had for sale. That night we went to our local Thai restaurant. I'm pretty sure that we have officially taken every visitor there!

Last weekend we also took Ewok in to get fixed. It is seriously so sad. She kept licking her stitches, so we had to go back to the vet and get a cone for her. She does not know what is going on at all with that thing on. She doesn't hold her head up and gets stuck walking around. Backing up she gets all tangled and trips over herself. One of the things that she always does is jump off the couch through the railing on the stairs. This morning she trying to follow Melissa around the house and went for her normal jump, but because she has a cone around her head she crashed and burned. She's such a sweet cat though. Because she's so frightened and uncomfortable all she does is follow us and try to be as close to us as possible. If we're sitting down she'll plop herself on our laps or if we're laying down she'll basically lay on Melissa's head or my chest! Poor thing.

Lastly, we've been looking at moving up to the Northern Beaches area for the last couple of weeks. I came across a place about a week ago and sent it off to Melissa. From the photos she was stoked on it and we went to check it out. When we got to the viewing there was a line of people out there. That alone was pretty disheartening, but what made it worse was that when we went inside it was perfect. We both loved it. While I was there I saw at least 7 people put in applications. We were definitely stressing out and just did everything we could think of to get our names at the top of the list. We were so pumped when she called me on Monday and said they'd take our application. The apartment is a 2 bedroom 2 bath. The living room, dining room, and kitchen all face out towards the lagoon behind the building. The entire back wall is glass so those rooms are really light and have a cool feel. The balcony is wide enough to have a table and chairs and a barbeque. It's also really close to my work so I can walk or ride the bike. It's just up the hill from the beach and a couple of blocks from my friend Tim's place. Manly and the ferry to the city is just a short walk. There's also a nice little area of restaurants and shops just up the hill in Freshwater. We are so stoked on it and can't wait to move in. It'll be fun to have our first visitors there in Oct when Scott and Andrea come over!
