Yikes! Two months have gone by! Well here's the latest. I'll start with the most recent and work backwards from there.
Melissa and I are scheduling our trip back to the states, and even though there's no flights booked yet it's looking like we'll be heading to US in June of next year. Super excited about that and am really looking forward to seeing everyone.
Every year I laugh on Melbourne Cup day, because I'm not sure where else in the world do you either have a holiday or half work day to watch a sporting event, and in this case even better, a horse race! Melissa and I both had half days in order to watch the race with our companies. Everyone is out and about dressed up and placing bets!
Melissa and I went to a fundraiser for a friend's sister who has been fighting a lot of health issues. Her story is pretty tough and it makes you realize how blessed we are to have good health. It was also kind of weird to be on the giving and supporting end. We've both been very excited about helping and deep down it feels like we're passing on everything that people poured out for us after Scott, Andrea, and Isaac's accident. That being said the night also brought back the memories and pain.
My sister Andrea and brother in law Scott were actually just out here. We all just hung out together, which was really nice. It's just great to be around each other and not necessarily have an agenda. We did get out and about, but it wasn't non stop or anything. I took them out to the Blue Mountains one day, and thoroughly loved it. It was pretty awesome and I really want to go back and do more hikes. It was my first time out that there, so it was cool to see something new all together.
Melissa has been busy with work and was in Fiji for a week in September. Burton set up a weekend away down at the snow for our employee appreciation. It's been great to get back into snowboarding and I'm super pumped on it.
Man, I'm so sleepy! Actually, for the last two months it does feel like we've been doing stuff all the time. Melissa is out of town this week down the coast, so maybe I'll be able to take it easy! haha. Joe and Nancy will be out here right before Thanksgiving, so we'll be putting on another aussie thanksgiving celebration. I was excited for an instant cause there's a park right below our house which would be perfect for playing football, and then I found out that there wasn't really anyone coming to play football with so that fun idea evaporated!
This coming Saturday is my last regular season surf comp. It's an intense comp as well since the points count double and I'm sitting just below a couple of friends. Lots of pressure. If I perform well here I'll set myself up nicely for the finals. Still looking to take a win!
Buenas Nachos.
