Happy Fourth of July to everyone!!! I would like you all to know what while you were celebrating with BBQ's and beach days all of us Yanks in OZ managed to throw a celebration of our own. You might even say we had more spirit than normal with being away from home. :) We couldnt bare the thought of not celebrating our home country's birthday so the planning actually began weeks ago. We decided to have the party at our friend Chris's who lives in Bondi and the best location by far. After much discussion of the menu it was decided that it would consist of an all-American 4th of July BBQ. Chris and Kelly (his friend visiting from the US) provided the amazing burgers, bean dip, homemade tortilla chips and other delicious goodness. I brought the Macaroni Salad and decided to be a little daring and make Funnel Cake. The food was incredible. :) We all felt right at home, minus the fact we had to wear jackets and sweatshirts due to the fact we are in the middle of Winter. Another surprise that I should know I can always count on is my mom with decorations...Joe brought me over a surprise of Flag Napkins, I was very excited. I later learned that had I informed Mom of the party I would have had plates and other silly decorations. Next time!!! Aaron ventured to a flag shop on Saturday Morning and came home with a few American Flags, Flag Tattoo's and an additional stop provided Budweiser. Whats a 4th of July party with out some good ole American beers. :) The Australians were very impressed. All in all the party was a hit, full of good food, good friends, and even some silly Australian games.
Sunday Aaron and I decided to meet up with some friends (Tim & Sara) and head to the Northern Beaches. We were lucky to be blessed with another beautiful day. It may not have been very warm but the Sun was shining and the views were amazing. Aaron and Tim went for a surf while I sat on the beach reading magazines and chatting with Sara. Afterwards we stopped by the best Pie Shop in Sydney for some Beef Burgundy pies. Delish. :) I am lucky we dont live closer to the pie shop or I would be as big as a house.
This week will be a little less busy than most, Joe is here again this week Thursday and Friday. I hope he doesnt get sick of us...I think his trips used to be his time to be alone and relax and now he has to sit and listen to me talk his ear off for hours. :) I love that he gets to come and visit, not only bc he brings goodies but it has given us a chance to really spend time together and strengthen our bond. Ill know if hes sick of us if he only wants to meet up on Thursday. Hee hee
We are also planning on going to the Swans Game on Saturday, they are playing Essendon, my favorite team, Christina's home team, and the team that was my introduction to AFL. Meg and Innes are going to come too so as long as it isn't too cold it should be a fun night!
Besides that we are in preparations for Aaron's parents visit!!! We can hardly wait, they will be arriving in 2 weeks and are in for a treat. :) Us being the treat. lol We have lots of fun stuff planned to do with them, including new explorations for us!! If only the two weeks would pass by quickly.
I had better get back to work but cant forget to give Ewok a shout out. She is as cute as every and sleeps next to me nightly! She is still a little cuddle bug. :)
